有人以为，遵循进犯道理离子炮改名为质子炮应当更合适。实在这是不对的，因为离子炮进犯是开释的氢离子不但独一氕(氢最常见的同位素，原子核中不含有中子)，另有部分氘(原子核中一中子)和氚(原子核中两中子)。是以离子炮这个名字是精确的，叫做质子炮则是局促、名不副实的。
